Its been a little while since my last update here on JuseOne.com, but I am back! I have been a little busy lately… opening a gallery, teaching at Mekkanine, and most importantly, becoming a father. Ahhhh… life is good.
But hey, if you haven’t heard, check it out – I just opened my own gallery here in Copenhagen! That’s right – Gotham Gallery has just opened this month featuring my own work in an exhibition entitled Africa, Peace, & Fatherhood. Among the highlights in the show are portraits of the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize winners – Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Leymah Gbowee, and Tawakkul Karman.

See the rest of the works on the Gotham Gallery website! While you are there, check out next month’s exhibition, “Inspirations” by Danish graffiti artist Soten. Definitely not to be missed! As always, stay tuned for more here at JuseOne.com.
Peace!
Juse

What up folks!
Here’s a quickie from a couple of weeks ago, just before my recent work trip to NY. I got up with some dope writers I met out at Roskilde Festival – FSC and Letter Benders crew from Copenhagen. Good looking out yall! It was a fun time, and we definitely need to link up again ASAP.
From left to right: Debut, Juse One, Damn, Reks, Kets, and Meso
A little close up of my piece:

Check out the Letter Benders website for flicks of all the pieces. Kets website has a dope image browser as well withvery nice “click and drag” views of connectors.
Shout outs to my homies Omek and Akts from Kingston – I’m sorry I was so busy working in Jersey last week and I couldn’t make it upstate to see yall. Big Ups to FUA Krew, and the Rochester BBoy BBQ coming up next weekend August 5th and 6th!!!
Much respect to my homies Damn, Reks, Debut, Kets and Meso! Good rockin with you gentlemen, and I will see you again soon.
Peace!!

As promised, after five consecutive days of painting, camping and comraderie with some of the world’s best graffiti writers and artists, I have finally completed the most challenging piece in my career. New York State Of Mind is a tribute to some of my favorite hip hop artists from The Empire State. Painted in the classic orange and blue as homage to the NY Knicks, this piece is a blend of potraiture and my letter style. Jay-Z, Notorious B.I.G., Mary J. Blige, Big Punisher, KRS One, and Nas composed the “portrait fill” that is revealed by a peeling red and orange solid fill.
Despite the relatively simple elements that compose this piece (faces and letters), the execution of my design was by far the most difficult painting I’ve ever attempted. Here are some shots from the process from start to finish.
No piece is perfect, and there is always room for improvement. Even though not all these portraits came out perfectly (or even recognizable – KRS is not 50Cent, no matter how many 18 year olds guess wrong) I still feel like I accomplished something. With that said, I have some thanks to give:
I want to say a special thanks to Lars Pedersen for a phenomenal job in organizing this huge Roskilde graffiti project every year, and for giving me a chance to show and prove in 2011. Thanks to Andreas and Simone for the practical support and helping Lars help us all make art. Many many thanks to Kathrine “Mami” Jørgensen for all the good food this week! I gotta send a big shout out to all my fellow artists on the graffiti team who gave me a lot of great feedback and constant encouragement – Sye of TPA and TC5 from New York, Sket and Sick (and Paulina!) from Amsterdam, Mester, Damn, Reks, Debs, Bomr, Soten, Tiws Debut, Detos, and Sport from Denmark, Chligr from France, and Smug, LovePusher, Kak, Bonzai, Dep, and Tizer from the UK. Special thanks to Andy Seize from London for some much needed color advice in the final hours of painting. Naturally, big ups go to Molotow for making it possible for all of us to paint our pieces with their generous supply of paint. Finally, I could not imagine even attempting to paint something this difficult and mentally straining if I did not have the constant support from my wonderful and loving wife, Kathrine.
As always, stay tuned.
Peace and progress,
Juse One
P.S.: Here is a quick interview I did with PTA from DubCNN. Good looking out for the camera time!

I have been working on this piece for 3 days now, and I think O have just reached the halfway point. Here’s a quick preview:

It is official. I am here backstage on the eve of the 2011 Roskilde Festival opening, and I am ready to rock! And by rock, I mean paint. Thanks to my homie Lars, I have the opportunity to join the graffiti team and rock with some really dope artists. This is going to be one for the memoirs… Photos coming soon!!!
Peace & Progress,
Juse One
Well, here we are once again… back from the Street GAM3 tour, and let me tell you, this year was a blast. I’m not even gonna begin to tell you…. just peep the video!
I want so send a special thank you to two volunteers who gave me all the help I could ask for while we were painting nearly 900 tshirts this year : Bero Ali and Israfil Köse. Without you two, it would have been completely impossible for me to do my job, so from the bottom of my heart, Tusind Tak!!!!
Alrighty, as always, stay tuned. I am on my out to Roskilde Festival right now to do the biggest and best work I can possible create. You best believe when I get back, there will be plenty of new fliks.
Peace & Progress,
Juse One
Here’s a quick preview of the pieces we have been working on. Teamed up with Range, Taste, Zone, Bones, and Snoe on this. It’s a work in progress, but last I checked, this production is nearly complete. Good times getting up with my crew in Rochester – Big Ups FUA! Wish I could do this more often. In any case, keep your eyes peeled for the full finished connector… I’ll be in touch!
